What is an invisible grill and how does it work?
The cable-and-track system
An invisible grill is a tensioned cable barrier. A powder-coated aluminium track is anchored to the floor and the ceiling (or to the top and bottom of the window opening). Between them we run 2.5 mm or 3 mm nylon-coated stainless steel cable vertically at fixed spacing — normally 3 inches for homes with children or pets. Each cable is individually tensioned, so the finished grill is taut, silent and does not sag over time. Because the cables are vertical and thin, the eye reads straight past them and the view stays intact.
SS 304 vs SS 316: which grade for Chennai?
SS 304 is a good general-purpose stainless steel and works well for inland openings. SS 316 adds molybdenum, which makes it far more resistant to chloride corrosion — the exact problem you get within a few kilometres of the sea. For ECR, Palavakkam, Thiruvanmiyur, OMR and any sea-facing high-rise we strongly recommend SS 316.
